En is a jack of all trades, a scavenger, and a collector of magical items. She originally made a brief appearance in Fären the half-elf’s backstory, before she joined the Fantasial Freeze campaign as a player character a few months later.

Given Name: En

Class: Skinshifter/Expert

Background: Artisan

Physical Appearance
En is five feet, two inches tall and quite petite. She has pale skin and heavy-lidded, large red eyes with long, white eyelashes. She has a very cute face and is quite pleased with herself for having one. Her pale, almost-white hair is short, fluffy, and rather asymmetrically cut. She always seems to have mild bruises and abrasions on her arms and legs, especially around her knees. Odd-looking runes can be seen on her lower back, the base of her neck and on her torso in between her ribs. They are a deep reddish black, raised from the skin like fresh tattoos. They move and shift ever so subtly, as though gently breathing on their own. She has long, sharp horns coming out of the sides of her head, small, pointed fangs and a forked tongue. She also has a spaded tail.

En enjoys cute clothes and has a good sense of fashion. She wears a pair of knee-high, iron-toed boots decorated with countless black leather straps. They have a large platform sole, adding about two inches to her height. She wears low-waisted brown shorts made of animal pelts and leather, as well as a cropped, high-necked vest of patchwork orange, red and brown leathers, tailored to fit her perfectly. She has fingerless gloves of the same material that extend halfway up her forearms, and many pouches and odd-looking tools attached to her waist and thighs with leather belts. Her attire is decorated with straps, pieces of scrap metal and splashes of hand-painted bright orange and yellow. A pair of goggles with large red lenses hang around her neck, which she wears both when working on her crafts and when the sun is too bright. They are both magnifying and protective for the eyes. On her back she carries a large backpack containing her collection of interesting items, gadgets and gizmos. She wears an amulet with a circular depression in the center where it seems a gemstone should be. On the belt around her waist is a small doll resembling a man, sloppily stitched together and a little dirty. When the weather is too cold to wear her usual revealing attire, she dons a heavy cream-colored cloak stitched together with bright red thread and a red scarf to bury her face in, donning her goggles to protect her eyes.

Certain demon-related circumstances may cause her appearance to change quite vastly. It begins with the shift of skin, hair, fingertips and eye color, before the body transforms into something entirely non-humanoid. She grows paler when sleepy, reddish-pink when hungry, and charcoal black when consumed by wrath.

Personality
En is clever, creative and confident. There are very few things that can frighten her, and she remains levelheaded in the face of danger. She is good at working with others, as long as she finds them interesting. She lives in her own mind, rarely explaining what she does or why, acting on whims that only make sense to her, sometimes carrying out conversations entirely by herself. Having grown up around thugs and intimidating types, she is good at handling them, never backing down and often winning them over with her unflinching attitude. She is kind to children and animals, and she especially likes cats. She enjoys lending her skills to others, partially to show off and partially because she enjoys it, whether it be modifying their armor or making them an intricate little gift out of metal scraps.

En has quite the affection for aesthetics and values her appearance greatly, taking great pride in her charming features. Thus, she is quite insecure about her demonic transformations and doesn’t like to be seen in her halfway states of being. For her own safety, she prefers to keep the existence of her demons to herself, but also because she is rather shy about it. She is afraid that people will stop liking her if they find out about her ugly side- both visually and ethically. She views her cannibalistic gluttony as an embarrassing habit, rather than a terrifying one.

En catches feelings easily and is quite forward about it- boldly pursuing anyone she finds cute. Unfortunately, she can be rather overbearing and possessive of those she becomes romantically involved with. While her wrath is usually not a problem, she doesn’t handle romantic rejection easily, and multiple ex-boyfriends have accidentally become her dinner. She is also highly protective over her collection of odd items, only sharing them when she wants to. If any of them go missing, she won’t rest until she gets the item back. She has a soft spot for her lifelong friend Gio and would do anything for his sake.

History
Early Life:

En was an unwanted child. After her mother died in childbirth, she was left under the care of a small abbey on the northern coast of Amusa. The nuns at the abbey were deeply disturbed by the little changeling child, believing her powers of mimicry to be a deeply unholy act. The eldest of the nuns was a terrible old woman, who was convinced that En was a demon sent to curse them all. On the child’s fifth birthday the old nun took it upon herself to bring En to the edge of the Abzcar Canyon and leave her there, where she was sure the little thing would be eaten up by whatever beasts resided within.

Young En was instead discovered by four dangerous-looking fellows emerging from the canyon itself, covered in dirt and blood, all wielding multiple deadly-looking weapons. The youngest of the fellows, a boy of barely twenty named Gio, insisted that they take the girl home with them. The rest protested, but Gio refused to take no for an answer, brandishing his weapons about and yelling in colorful French until they half-heartedly gave in. Gio’s home turned out to be an underground arena in the Luggland Hills known as the Abzcar Pits. This fighting ring was quite illegal, and quite the popular attraction for daring warriors and magic-users looking to prove their strength. Spectators would gather to place bets and watch as the challengers battled not only each other, but ferocious beasts as well, handpicked from the Abzcar Canyon.

Life in the Arena:

En spent her youth in the care of Gio, who treated her with nothing but kindness. He made sure she was well fed and cared for, brought her books to read and treasures from his travels. He taught her how to fight, survive, paint and to understand all his French expletives. Gio was a genius of sorts- he seemed to know everything. He had been all over Quelmar, his various illegal affiliations leading him wherever the law happened to be looking the other way. He was currently making his living by travelling into the Abzcar Canyon with his crew and capturing beasts for the arena. Most adventurers who entered the dangerous canyon never returned, but somehow Gio and his three companions always returned somewhat intact. Whether they were unbeatable or just lucky was hard to determine, but the masters of the arena paid them well for their efforts. Gio would reason that gold, liquor and drugs were enough of an incentive to bring him home no matter how perilous the scenario seemed. Young En was unsure about the validity of this statement, but she didn’t question it too much, trusting his judgement for better or worse.

While Gio was away on his expeditions, En would spend her time tinkering with the treasures he had given her, tearing them apart and turning them into something new to surprise her friend with when he returned. She would often ask to accompany Gio on his journeys, aching to know what mysteries the canyon contained, but the young man would gently tell her that it was far too dangerous for a little sprout like her, and that he would take her when she was older.

Starting in her early teenage years, she began to work on the sidelines of the arena, collecting money, cleaning up blood, and feeding the beasts caged within. Nobody but Gio was very interested in getting along with the girl, and they usually kept their distance. En was quite the fearless child though, and refused to let their sideways glances get her down. She talked to the beasts like pets and found it quite amusing when they snapped and bit at her. When the customers became rowdy with her over money disputes, she would hold her ground until they paid what they owed, smiling sweetly the entire time. Meanwhile, she had become quite the skilled craftsperson and had taken it upon herself to add a little dazzle and decor to the once dismal arena. She decorated the ring itself with bright paint and hung vibrant textile banners from the stands. She synthesized potions to create colorful clouds of smoke, and designed flashy costumes for the participants to wear. Whenever a particularly nasty fight would damage the ring itself, she would patch it up with ease. Warriors and wizards began to seek her out for last minute touch ups to their weapons and armor, which she would happily agree to as long as they didn’t mind a little pizzazz thrown in along with the improvement. She was always rather lonely without anyone besides Gio to talk to, thus her only way of being seen was to show off her talent wherever she could. Nobody could ignore a girl with such an outgoing attitude and eccentric style.

En Enters the Canyon:

When En was eighteen, Gio left for an expedition and did not return. His companions, upon their arrival, told En that they had gotten separated in the canyon after a fearsome creature ambushed them from above. En packed her things immediately and set out to find her missing friend, ignoring the men’s warnings of the horrors waiting within.

The girl made her way to the canyon floor, her pathway dimly lit by rippling cracks of magma seeping through the ground. All around En, the air seemed to whisper, hissing in her ears like a serpent ready to strike. It so happened that (for protection) En had brought with her every magical object she had collected over the years, both from Gio and from a few generous strangers who paid her for her equipment modifications. They seemed to hum with energy as she walked down the treacherous path. Around her neck she wore an amulet with a white crystal in the center. This amulet she had taken a liking to quite some time ago, purely for its appearance, unaware at the time of the dark magic that resided within it. Every dark force in the cavern now watched the girl from afar, the crystal’s power luring them in. Even En’s fearlessness began to waver as she felt an oppressive force creeping in from all sides. She walked quicker, then broke into a run, dodging between the shadows, into the darkest hollow she could find. She had hoped to hide herself away, but instead found herself falling into a black abyss.

For what seemed like an eternity she spiraled downwards in the nothingness, her senses fading, everything becoming abstract in the empty space. Then something cold and thick met her falling body and a heavy, tar-like liquid swallowed her whole. It seeped into her lungs, her throat, her eyes, ears, mouth, and skin. The breath left her lungs, and her consciousness dimmed.

There was pain. A horrible hurt. A boiling fever in her blood that raged white-hot beneath her flesh, pulsating behind her eyes until she was sure they would burst out of her skull.

Then, a heartbeat. A slow, fluttering pulse. Gentle, warm.

The aforementioned crystal within her amulet was the host of a terrible cursed magic. The wearer could use its power to remove the souls of living beings and transfer them between bodies. When En fell into what would come to be known as a Sinpool, the demonic essence within the pool grabbed hold of this power, ripping out a good chunk of En’s soul before leaping in to fill the empty gaps, merging with her body and mind. It attempted to eat away at the rest, but her remaining soul held strong. While most creatures would fall victim to such a monstrous attack in an instant, En was different. Changelings are born quite aware of the soul, due to their natural ability to change the shape of the body that surrounds it. Therefore, their souls are tougher than most, like a well-trained muscle, and cannot be destroyed so easily. So En survived, emerging from the hole in the ground in time to watch the night shift into dawn. But En was not just En anymore. There were others within her, whispering, clamoring, elbowing each other for room. But at least she wasn’t alone, and with that thought she closed her eyes and felt the world fade away.

Her next memory was a blurry vision of Gio’s face hovering over her, shouting something she couldn’t hear. She felt a wave of relief. Her dear friend had found her. He was here, alive and safe. But her joy was muted, drowned out by an awful ache. She was hungry, so terribly hungry. Something was happening to her. Everything ached, burned, boiled. When she came to, she tasted blood and skin in her teeth. Her body was strange, her mind even stranger. She knew the three beings within her as though they were old friends- their names, where they came from, what they were, and what she now was. In fact, it felt as though she had never been anyone else at all.

She looked around her, and spotted Gio’s body resting against the rocky wall of the canyon a few feet away. Blood covered the ground between them, and his left arm was missing. En realized the taste in her mouth was him. En did the only thing she could think of. Grabbing Gio's sword, she dipped the weapon into a nearby pool of magma and used the hot metal of the blade to cauterize what was left of his bleeding arm, apologizing again and again for everything. Gio survived, just barely. Once he was able to stand, they made their way out of the canyon slowly, carefully, but no monsters came to bother them. En was one of them now, after all.

Life After Abzcar:

En couldn’t return to the arena. To live amongst others with a power so dangerous- it was a massacre waiting to happen. Gio told En that he’d always thought her talents were too great for such a lowly place. En told Gio she thought the same of him, and so they decided to leave together. They headed North, taking a fishing boat off the coast of Amusa up to Osugbo. They soon arrived in Ravel, where En was astounded to see so many artists and craftsmen, all unique in their talents and skills. It was a far cry from the rugged, colorless world from which she had come. Gio was still recovering from his wounds, so they decided to settle down in the city for the time being. En started taking up odd jobs around the city, expanding her skills and learning as much as she could from the people around her. She took up an apprenticeship with a blacksmith as well, who she recruited to assist her in forging a metal arm for Gio.

No sooner had En given Gio this gift, however, when a large group of stern-looking guards surrounded her friend and placed him under arrest for his numerous crimes to against the city. En went to see him that night, whispering a promise to help him escape, but Gio told her no. He was tired of running from his past and refused to make En an accomplice in the sordid affairs of his youth. He told her to live for herself, to go see the world and experience all that it had to offer. After much protesting, En agreed, but promised to visit him often. He had always returned to her side in the past and now she would always return to his.

From that day forward, En began her travels around Quelmar, collecting, trading and creating treasures to show to Gio. She would go back to Ravel often to visit him as she had promised and would bribe the prison guards to let her into Gio's prison cell. They would talk late into the night, En relating every detail of her adventures to Gio, who listened with captivated intrigue.

En even designed a little patchwork doll resembling Gio to carry with her on her journeys. It had button eyes and its very own metal arm. She would talk to it while she wandered, mulling over her theories and thoughts, rambling about the wonders of the world. It kept the other thoughts quiet. The demons desired things other than treasure and trinkets; they preferred carnage, death, bloodshed and the like.

As time passed, she learned to control the demons better. As long as she kept herself mildly sleep deprived at all times, the nonviolent demon named Llami remained in the foreground, and En could remain somewhat in control. She did her best to keep her wrath and hunger to a minimum, but nobody is perfect. Many times, she would awaken to the horrors that she had inflicted upon others, covered in their entrails and chunks of bloody meat. She couldn’t pretend like the demons didn’t enjoy the taste of it, but she knew it wasn’t right. It was gluttonous to feast herself on the living.

Across the villages of Quelmar, townsfolk began to tell tales of the hideous monster they had seen ravaging their homes. Many tried to hunt it down, but the trail always went cold. It always vanished when its violence was finished and never returned to the same place twice.

466 PR (The Fantasial Freeze):

One evening, En was crossing through the Wyvern Mountains on her way home to Ravel, when a terrible blizzard arrived out of nowhere. She would have frozen to death, had it not been for a fire crystal from her collection, which she placed in the amulet around her neck. Its magic kept her body warm, melting the snowflakes before they could reach her. However, the blinding snowstorm made it impossible to see more than a couple steps in front of her and she found herself walking in circles for days before finally finding refuge in a small cave where a little fire was burning away. As soon as she set foot inside, she laid down and closed her eyes, too tired to remain standing any longer.

When she awoke, she discovered that she had company, a half-elf boy around her age. He was a very off-putting fellow, and she immediately didn't like him very much. He asked for her amulet, to which she refused. He was clearly bothered by this, because he snatched the amulet from her neck and took off into the snow like a scared rabbit. Enraged, En felt a dark presence writhing up from within her, and didn’t bother trying to force it back down.

When she returned to her normal form, she found herself standing in the streets of Ravel with the boy right in front of her, wide-eyed, and surprisingly unharmed. Chasing him around in that monstrous form had been exhausting, and she couldn’t muster up any more rage in her heart to maintain it. So, snatching the amulet back from the annoying boy, she turned her back on him and wandered off to see Gio.

The damp prison had become a deathly cold coffin for its inmates due to the strange weather conditions, and En found her friend shivering in his cell, huddled under a fur blanket to stay warm. He had come down with a nasty illness from the damp chill and could hardly croak out a word of greeting as she hurried to his side. En quickly gave her fire crystal to Gio, inlaying it into his metal arm, where it wouldn’t be discovered. She decided to then stay in Ravel until the weather improved, seeking out food and medicine for Gio. When her own hunger became too much to bear, she would leave the city only for a day or two, letting the demon of gluttony eat its fill of unlucky wanderers before she returned. Of course she felt guilty, but she refused to take any regular food for herself. Resources were too scarce, and she couldn’t let Gio starve, no matter what the cost might be.

Languages
Common. She understands French but she only knows how to speak a little of it- mostly curse words and insults.

Powers and Abilities
En enjoys collecting magical items and tinkering with them to make something new. She is quite multitalented when it comes to crafting, building and creating. She collects scraps of metal, fabric, carcasses, and so on to create anything her heart desires, whether it be for aesthetic or practical use. She is especially good at creating intricate items from metal. One man’s trash can always be turned into another man’s treasure, if you have the skills to do so.

The Demons:

Three demons reside within En; their names are Llamia, Famine and Loki. They no longer have bodies or minds, but their will and essence has been intertwined with her soul. Due to her originally having the power to shapeshift, they now control the shape her body takes and the power she holds within herself. It is similar to being a werewolf, but instead of the full moon, her transformations are dictated by the amount of hunger, wrath, and lethargy inside of her.

‘Fami’s Influence’ takes control when she is hungry, ‘Loki’s Influence’ takes control when she is wrathful, and ‘Llami’s Influence’ takes control when she is lethargic. If she strongly feels all three of these in tandem, she may shift into a hybrid version of all three. Although she is at her strongest when she is in the most turmoil, if she prolongs this state of suffering for an extended period of time, she could simply die from overexertion. Since there is still the partial soul of a mortal within her, her stamina will drain quite quickly in any form besides Llami’s, in which she is asleep.

If she felt none of these things, she would not only be powerless, but her soul would be too weak to create a defined shape, and her physical body would begin to melt like tar. It’s quite ugly and quite incapacitating. Since she requires the influence of at least one demon to retain her form, she usually settles for a mild level of sleep deprivation to keep Llami on the frontlines. Partially because she thinks she looks the cutest under Llami’s influence, but also because the other two are extremely dangerous when fully manifested and she doesn’t want to hurt innocent people if she can help it.

* Llami’s full form: This form only manifests when the body has not slept for 96 or more hours or if En has overexerted herself in another demonic form. Some say it looks like a llama, some say it looks like a sheep. It is a long-necked, wooly creature with massive, curling horns and black, heavy eyes. Its fur is so dense that the average blade would bounce right off. It has short, thick legs that seem to sink into the ground upon which it stands. It remains fast asleep until it is rested enough to return to its partial form. It can move, but it does not have a very sharp mind and will only do so if it must. Sometimes it snores softly.

* Fami’s full form: This form manifests when the body has not eaten anything for 72 hours straight, or if the body has been in a nonstop state of hunger for over a week. Fami is a round, almost circular, purplish red creature, smooth and shiny like a salamander. It is mostly made of wide-open mouth and sharp, pointy teeth, along with a long, forked tongue that flails about wildly as it searches for prey. It has four fat little three-toed legs that it uses to scurry about, on any surface, even upside-down. It has a small curly tail like a piglet’s and tiny pink horns. It has no eyes, yet it seems to wear an elated expression as it attempts to gobble down anything and anyone in sight. This feeding frenzy can last from 1 minute to an hour, depending on how much Fami gobbles up. If an hour passes, and Fami has had nothing to gobble it will get very angry and merge with Loki’s wrath. This merge is extremely dangerous. Sometimes it is preferable to throw Fami an offering before time runs out and things escalate.

* Loki’s full form: This form only manifests when the body is overwhelmed with blind rage. Loki is the most traditional-looking demon out of the three, due to its long horns, pointed fingers and forked tail. It is pitch black, and almost liquid, like an oil spill in the shape of a creature. It is the only demon that can freely change its shape, forming weapons from its body to hack its victims to pieces. It has teeth similar to that of a lamprey and has been known on occasion to drown people within its body, latching onto their face with its gaping void of a mouth until its victim collapses, leaving a spiral of blackened bite marks behind. It is hard to kill and emits a terrible, high-pitched shriek as it hunts. This demon is slightly smarter than the other two, and can pick up weapons, open doors, and move about semi-strategically to attack its victims efficiently.
En is a jack of all trades, a scavenger, and a collector of magical items. She originally made a brief appearance in Fären the half-elf’s backstory, before she joined the Fantasial Freeze campaign as a player character a few months later.

Given Name: En

Class: Skinshifter/Partial Expert

Background: Artisan

Physical Appearance
En is five feet and two inches tall and quite petite. She has pale skin and heavy-lidded, large red eyes with very long, white eyelashes. She has a very cute face and is quite pleased with herself for having one. Her pale, almost-white hair is short, fluffy, and very asymmetrically cut. She always seems to have mild bruises and abrasions on her arms and legs, especially around her knees. There is a rune on her lower back, the base of her neck and on her torso in between her ribs. They appear on the skin like a fresh tattoo, raised from the surface, a bloody-blackish color, swirling like magma bubbling up from beneath the ground. They seem to move and shift, as though they are alive.

En packed her things immediately and set out to find her friend, ignoring the men’s warnings of the horrors waiting within.

It seeped into her lungs, her throat, her eyes, ears, mouth, skin. The breath left her lungs, and her consciousness dimmed.

There was pain. A horrible hurt, a boiling fever in her blood that raged white-hot beneath her flesh, pulsing behind her eyes until she was sure they would burst out of her skull.

Then, a heartbeat. A slow, fluttering pulse. Gentle, warm.

The aforementioned crystal within her amulet held a very special curse within itself. Therefore their souls are tougher than most, like a well-trained muscle, and cannot be destroyed so easily. So En survived, emerging from the hole in the ground in time to watch the night shift into dawn. But En was not just En anymore. There were others within her, whispering, clamoring, elbowing each other for room. But at least she wasn’t alone. With that thought she closed her eyes and felt the world fade away.

Her next memory was a blurry vision of Gio’s face hovering over her, shouting something she couldn’t hear. She was hungry, so terribly hungry. Something terrible was happening to her. Everything ached, burned, boiled. When she came to, she tasted blood and skin in her teeth. Her body was strange, her mind even stranger. She knew their names, the three within her, where they came from, what they were, and what she now was. In fact, it felt as though she had never been anyone else.

Gio’s body was resting against the rocky wall of the canyon. His left arm was missing and blood covered the ground between them. En realized the taste in her mouth was him. All Gio had on him was his weapon. Dipping the sword into a pool of magma, she used the hot metal of the blade to cauterize what was left of his bleeding arm, apologizing again and again for what she’d done. Afterwards, they made their way out of the canyon slowly, carefully, but no monsters came to bother them. En was one of them now, after all.

Life After Abzcar:

En couldn’t return to the arena. To live amongst others with a power so dangerous- it was a massacre waiting to happen. Gio told En that he’d always thought her talents were too great for such a horrid place in the first place.

As time passed, she learned to control the demons better, finding that as long as she deprived herself from sleep to keep the least violent demon in the foreground, she could remain docile for the most part. Nobody is perfect, however.

Although she is at her strongest when she is in the most turmoil, if she prolongs this state of suffering for an extended period of time, she will starve to death or collapse from exhaustion.

* Llami’s full form: This form only manifests when the body has not slept for 96 or more hours.

En is a jack of all trades, a collector of magical items, and a player character in the Fantasial Freeze campaign. She originally appeared in Fären the half-elf’s backstory, before joining the campaign a few months later.

Meanwhile, she had become quite the skilled craftsperson, and had taken it upon herself to add a little dazzle and decor to the once dismal arena.

En packed her things immediately and set out to find her friend, ignoring the men’s warnings of the horrors waiting within.

Then something cold and thick met her falling body and a thick, tar-like liquid swallowed her whole.

Her next memory was of Gio’s face hovering over her, shouting something she couldn’t hear.

En even made herself a little patchwork doll with her resembling Gio to carry with her on her journeys.

As time passed, she learned to control the demons better, finding that as long as she deprived herself from sleep to keep the least violent demon in the foreground, she could remain docile for the most part. Nobody is perfect, however.

The blinding snowstorm made it impossible to see more than a couple steps in front of her and she found herself walking in circles for days before finally finding refuge in a small cave where a little fire was burning away.

Although she is at her strongest when she is in the most turmoil, if she prolongs this state of suffering for an extended period of time, she will starve to death or collapse from exhaustion.

* Llami’s full form: This form only manifests when the body has not slept for 96 or more hours.

Not much is known about these pools, as they have only been witnessed by a handful of unfortunate souls and are far too dangerous to study up close.

An extremely rare phenomenon, these pools only manifest in places where unspeakable atrocities have occurred, where dark magic has saturated the air and death has dwelled too long. They are portals; piercing a hole between the planes of the living and dead, ripped open by the hands of war and suffering, loss and sorrow, betrayal and corruption. The essence that seeps out is demonic, but not yet a demon. It has a will, but not a mind, a longing to live. It is the embryo of a demon, the raw energy that makes them what they are.

Sinpools can take hundreds of years to fully develop. They bubble up from the ground slowly, goring their way up from below before breaking through the surface. They may shrink over time if left undisturbed, or they may grow wider and wider, swallowing up the area around them, should the darkness of the land become too great, where no light can shine through any longer.
En is a jack of all trades, a collector of magical items, and a player character in the Fantasial Freeze campaign. She originally appeared in Fären the half-elf’s backstory, before joining the campaign a few months later.

Meanwhile, she had become quite the skilled craftsperson, and had taken it upon herself to add a little dazzle and decor to the once dismal arena.

En packed her things immediately and set out to find her friend, ignoring the men’s warnings of the horrors waiting within.

Then something cold and thick met her falling body and a thick, tar-like liquid swallowed her whole.

Her next memory was of Gio’s face hovering over her, shouting something she couldn’t hear.

En even made herself a little patchwork doll with her resembling Gio to carry with her on her journeys.

As time passed, she learned to control the demons better, finding that as long as she deprived herself from sleep to keep the least violent demon in the foreground, she could remain docile for the most part. Nobody is perfect, however.

The blinding snowstorm made it impossible to see more than a couple steps in front of her and she found herself walking in circles for days before finally finding refuge in a small cave where a little fire was burning away.

Although she is at her strongest when she is in the most turmoil, if she prolongs this state of suffering for an extended period of time, she will starve to death or collapse from exhaustion.

* Llami’s full form: This form only manifests when the body has not slept for 96 or more hours.

Full Name: Fären Kōté Aldara ( /fɑːr/-ən/ /koʊ-/teɪ/ /ældɑː/ra/ )

Physical Appearance
Fären inherited his mildly pointy ears, androgynous features and golden-blond hair from his elven mother, but not much else. His skin is rather pale. He has a faint beauty mark underneath the right of his narrow brown-black eyes, which are often described as ‘empty’ or ‘dead’ by those who have encountered him. He has two expressions: nonplussed and smiling. This creepy little smile of his never reaches his eyes, making it rather unsettling to witness. The more danger he’s in, the wider he smiles. In his youth his hair was long, reaching down to his lower back. After the death of his brother, it was cut short, but it has since grown into a shaggy mid-length that he occasionally ties back into a short ponytail with a black ribbon.

His body is covered in many scars of various types; burns, cuts, stab wounds, and so on. The bones of his middle and ring finger on his left hand have been reconstructed and reinforced with metal after they were splintered apart in an unfortunate incident. Two long scars scale up those fingers as a result of the surgery. He covers his arms and hands in bandages, as well as his torso, to hide the worst of these marks.

His height is unimposing at five feet and eight inches. He is thin and nimble on his feet, quick enough to dodge a punch and strong enough to reciprocate. He prefers to wear comfortable, dark-colored garb that is easy to move around in. Since the beginning of The Fantasial Freeze, he now wears a thick black cloak with a high collar that covers the lower half of his face. He also wears a black mask to hide his visage when he doesn’t want to be recognized. He keeps many small pouches attached to his clothes with straps of various materials. Most of these are used to carry his extensive supply of drugs and interesting-looking paraphernalia. One of them contains the blade that killed his brother, which he refuses to use or touch.

Personality
Fären might be a little bit insane, or maybe he’s just a free spirit. It all comes down to perspective, after all. He has what people might refer to as a ‘hostile attitude problem’ when it comes to strangers, especially human men. He’s a bit less abrasive, but equally as erratic when he isn’t sober, which is quite common. When under the influence, whether it be drugs or alcohol (whatever he can get his hands on), he loses a sense of personal space and starts striking up conversations with anyone he feels inclined to bother. Unfortunately, Fären hasn’t had many friendships in his lifetime and lacks proper social skills. He’s a bit of an instigator, sometimes unintentionally, and often finds himself in trouble because of it.

He isn’t bad at heart, merely unpracticed at the art of playing nice. In the world he comes from, sincerity and empathy for others are dangerous habits to have. He’s the type to act depending on his whims, rather than thinking ahead, but he’ll always stand up to thugs or anyone exploiting their power.

When he does happen to make a friend, he’ll lay down his life for them without hesitation. Since he’s a raging adrenaline junkie (and a regular junkie at that), it can be hard to determine if he's risking his safety out of heroism or simply for the thrill. He enjoys any illicit substance but has a strong bias towards Kraken Blood. He will do just about anything to get his hands on more. He rarely sleeps and prefers to spend his nights watching the moon.

History
Early Life:

In the year 444 PR, Fären and his twin brother, Lycidas were born on the cold stone floor of a dungeon deep underground in the city of Ahol. Their mother died soon after they were born and the two boys were left in the care of their father, a criminal named Ünalan. Disinterested in parenthood and always looking for money, Ünalan sold the boys to a horrid gang of criminals in the city, known as The Grimm. The two boys grew up carrying out the dirty work of these criminals, treated like filth on the shoes of their masters’ feet.

Life Pre-Incident:

Fären and Lycidas were kept in a dungeon below the main hideout of The Grimm. They were separated by iron bars but found comfort whispering through them to one another during sleepless nights (every night). As they grew older, they invented secret ways to communicate; code words and tapping against the bars in a certain order to understand each other even when others were nearby. The brothers’ middle names, Kōté and Kāné, came from this secret language as nicknames for each other.

During the day they were put to work. All of it was terrible, grueling, and bloody. They were taught to fight, steal and kill. Fären, always the rebellious type, resisted the orders he was given, no matter how much misfortune or suffering it brought his way, while his brother fell in line and slowly gained respect amongst their superiors. They often would argue over this, Lycidas imploring Fären to stop making things so hard on himself, to grit his teeth and push down his pride until they grew old enough to earn their freedom. Fären would argue back that he would rather be beaten bloody than bow his head like cattle. Shortly after the brothers turned thirteen years old, Lycidas no longer returned to the cell where the two boys slept side by side every night. He had earned a place above, and Fären remained beneath.

Lycidas would still visit Fären from time to time; stitching up his wounds, bringing him food, or talking to him whenever he thought no one was looking, but the bond they once had was gone. A bitterness had settled between them and this gap widened each year.

At sixteen, Lycidas was already helping the men in charge to plot against the other criminal groups of the city, seeking bloodshed, riches and power. Fären continued his resistance and continued being treated by the rest as a stray dog they kept around just to kick, rather than anything potentially useful to the gang. He would be forced to fight new recruits of the gang as an initiation for them. Despite resisting doing what he was told, any chance he had to fight one of them, he would take, desperate for an outlet from years of repressed rage.

Soon before he and Lycidas would turn eighteen, they were put in front of each other, given daggers and told to fight to the death. This was Lycidas’ true initiation. They wouldn’t trust him to truly be one of them if he still had pity for his brother. They promised Fären that if he were to kill his brother, they would set him free. Lycidas dropped his dagger, and Fären lunged for the throat. Despite his best efforts Lycidas could not become one of them, and Fären had lost himself to the violence. This realization stopped Fären in his tracks a split second before he drew blood, and then he too dropped his knife. Incensed, one of the gang leaders, a man named Thorne, picked up the knife and slit Lycidas’ throat in front of Fären’s eyes. It was at this moment that the last bit of self-control in Fären snapped.

The Incident:

Fären seized the knife from the man named Thorne and went haywire, attacking anyone he set his eyes on and aiming only to kill. He fought his way out into the streets and escaped from both The Grimm and the city of Ahol. In the process, he shattered the bones in two of his fingers, cut off his hair to escape the grip of one of his captors, suffered countless wounds to his flesh, and received severe damage to a large percentage of his bones and vital organs.

Life Post-Incident:

Fären, horribly injured and reeling from The Incident, ran south, but didn’t make it very far before his body gave up on him. He was discovered bleeding out on the ground by a mysterious masked doctor by the name of Faust, who brought his lifeless body to a lonely tower hidden in the forest and pieced him back together. This was quite painful, only made bearable by many odd medicines supplied to him by this strange individual. Fären received a large amount of Kraken Blood from Faust, as well as a plethora of drugs invented by the doctor himself, as he healed from his injuries.

While Fären recovered, the remaining members of The Grimm put out a bounty on the half-elf who had slaughtered a vast number of their brothers. With his face and name plastered across the streets of Ahol, Fären decided it was best to stay out of sight and donned a black mask, only moving about at night.

After being discharged, Fären would often return to Faust’s tower to obtain more drugs. In exchange, he would allow the doctor to use him as a guinea pig to test any new drugs and medicine he had concocted at the time. These clinical trials were rather intense, but Fären was quite accustomed to pain at this point. Since this pain came with a reward, he viewed it as quite the upgrade from his previous life and even began to enjoy the trials in a disturbing, pavlovian sort of way.

Fären was determined to find and kill his father (out of spite), and then to take down the rest of his tormentors. He didn’t know his father’s face, however, merely his name, and tracking him down turned out to be fruitless in the end. Cutting his losses, he returned to Ahol and managed to kill the last remaining members of The Grimm, but this short winning streak of his was quickly brought to a halt. During a ‘celebratory’ bender in a town somewhere to the south of Ahol, he found himself in a rather heated argument with a group of travelling dwarves. This encounter quickly escalated into a very raucous brawl. Fären, being quite literally in the middle of this spectacle, was recognized and quickly captured by a group of mercenaries. Although The Grimm itself was no more, the more powerful allies of the gang were still seeking Fären. He was taken back to Ahol, where he was promptly thrown into prison.

Life in Prison:

Fären, nineteen years old at the time, found himself once again chained to a dungeon floor deep underneath Ahol. This hole was less lonesome than the last. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Prisoners were packed together in the damp, clammy darkness of the underground. Fären would often get into fights with the other prisoners due to his general personality, made worse by severe withdrawals from the substances he no longer had access to. With plenty of time to sit and reflect on his life, Fären, ever the evasive type, decided to shove down the angst within and plan his escape instead. The plan itself was and will remain unknown, due to the fact that Fären has changed his story every time that he has told it.

Life after Prison:

In the year 466 PR, Fären eventually set his plan (whatever it was) into motion and managed to escape both the dungeon and Ahol once more, stealing back the items that were taken from him in the process. He first returned to Faust’s tower, only to discover that the doctor had vanished, but hadn’t taken his experiments or ingredients with him. Fären took the entire stash of Kraken Blood, as well as some drugs designed by the doctor himself and their recipes (it would be a shame to let such wonderful inventions be forgotten, never to be experienced again). He then ran far away; somewhere where nobody knew his face, he could hope.

He then ran as far south as he could; searching for somewhere where nobody knew his face. He still carried the knife that killed his brother with him, just in case he did ever find his father, and refused to use it against anyone else. Until then there were certainly plenty of other thugs in the world worth stabbing a couple times for good measure. Besides, Fären had begun to enjoy his life of freedom far away from the oppressive gloom of Ahol, and he was more focused on having fun than pursuing any concrete goals.

Journey to Ravel/The Beginning of the Freeze:

Fären was determined to put as much distance between Ahol and himself as possible, hoping to reach the city of Ravel and leave Osugbo. He never stayed in one place too long, stealing food, money and other necessities from those he encountered along the way. Unfortunately, midway through his journey south, The Fantasial Freeze began, and his whimsical adventure quickly turned into a battle against the cold.

As he attempted to pass through the treacherous slopes of Wyvern Mountain, he was caught in a terrible blizzard and nearly froze to death. Through pure luck, he stumbled upon a small hole in the mountain where he could take shelter and start a fire to stay warm. He spent three long nights desperately trying to keep the flames going as the last of his food and water ran out. As he resigned himself to his fate, dying in a hole above ground, which was at least better than one below, he was discovered by another traveler seeking shelter. A... girl? A creature? Fären was quite unsure what he had come across. Having grown up in a world populated by humans, he was highly unfamiliar with all of the other races of Quelmar. The traveler introduced herself as Llami, before immediately collapsing by the fire. She had been carrying a comically large backpack on her shoulders, which tumbled to the ground along with her. Fären, of course, moved the girl-thing aside and ransacked the bag for supplies. He discovered a quaint little item that the girl-thing was carrying; a glowing amulet imbued with fire magic. When worn around the neck, the amulet rested upon the wearer’s chest and warmed their body up, even in the coldest weather. Despite the urge to take off with this treasure, Fären’s conscience held him back. Leaving someone to die alone in a cave was slightly over the line, even for his questionable moral compass. He knew the feeling a bit too well, so he kindly decided to wait until the girl-thing awoke and to simply ask her for the amulet instead. A day and a night passed by. When the girl-thing opened her eyes, she came face to face with a half-elf leaning over her, grinning a most unsettling grin. Fären did not receive permission to take the amulet. Bothered by the girl-thing’s unwelcoming attitude, he snatched the amulet and ran.

He had underestimated this strange traveler, though. The girl-thing turned out to be a demon-sort-of-thing and he spent the rest of his journey running from an incensed, nebulous black creature with claws and wings that screamed shrilly whenever it drew near. Every time he thought he’d reached safety, he would hear that terrible shriek coming from the distance, and he was forced to set off once more. With the warmth of the amulet, he was no longer plagued by the weather, however, and he made steady progress south to Ravel. Once arriving in Ravel, he realized there was nowhere further for him to go. No ships could sail him across that barren sheet of ice. The demon sort of thing caught up to him then, but as he prepared to be either eaten or slashed to bits, the creature suddenly calmed, and the girl-thing appeared once more. Taking advantage of his surprise, she snatched the amulet back from him. Without the warmth of the amulet, he was once again weak to the elements, and the bitter cold hit Fären so heavily that he became temporarily immobile and could only watch as the girl-thing walked away, yawning sleepily and vanishing into a nearby alley. Fären, shivering, hungry, and extremely annoyed, decided to stay in Ravel for a while to see what shelter he could find.
Attacks and Weapons
Fären enjoys collecting knives, specifically stiletto blades, but any sharp object will do the trick.

Half-elves are medium sized humanoids that are descended from elves and humans. They are typically half human and are slightly more graceful and slender than their human parent, but their appearances can vary wildly. In Quelmar, they are considered New World Crossbreeds, since they were not recognized before 0 BR. They often find themselves as diplomats, sailors, or other nomadic roles due to their innate charisma, yet lacking the feeling of a true home. Mixing the agility of their elvish ancestors with the hardiness of their human ones, half-elves fit into many different roles within society.

Appearance
To humans, half-elves look elven, and to elves, half-elves look human. They are not quite as broad as their human counterparts, nor as slender as their elven ones. They range from just under 5 feet to over 6 feet tall, weighing around 100 to 180 pounds, with men slightly taller and heavier than women. Half-elf men are capable of growing facial hair, and some do to prevent suspicion of their ancestry. The features of a specific half-elf can range wildly, and variety amongst them is pronounced even compared to humans. They do tend to possess elven eyes.

Half-elves have longer lifespans than humans, reaching maturity at around twenty and regularly living longer than one hundred twenty years.

Personality
The personality of a half-elf is largely dependent on their circumstances. The uniqueness of their existence is a personality trait by itself. Half-elves tend to share the free-spiritedness of their elven ancestors, valuing personal freedom and self-expression. They are dedicated artists, devoting years to honing their craft of choice and wearing their progress as a badge of honor. Some half-elves make the effort to fit into their birth society, but many demonstrate neither a love of leadership nor a desire to attract followers. They stand in between worlds, chafing at rules and resenting the demands of others. This slightly chaotic bent can make them appear unreliable to others, or at least unpredictable.

Of all Quelmar's half-breeds, half-elves are the most accepted due to their appearance being most easily mistaken for humans.

Abilities
Half-elves possess a measure of the magic present in their elven ancestry. They are difficult to magically charm or induce slumber, and they are capable of seeing short distances in the dark. Additionally, their human adaptability makes them quick learners, mastering a variety of skills and abilities easily - the choice is truly up to the individual half-elf what they would like to pursue.
PAGENAME is a human and self-proclaimed 'doctor'. He travels the world seeking a deeper understanding of life and death.

Character Type: NPC

Full Name: Ergo Faust Génessier

Physical Appearance
Ergo's face has been seen by very few. He is tall and thin, with high cheekbones and a sharp, sloped nose. He has one dark, sunken eye (the left is scarred shut) with heavy circles underneath, and more lines on his face than someone his age should have. His skin is quite tan. His pitch-black hair is unkempt, wavy and coarse. When his face isn’t covered, he wears a pair of small, thin-rimmed glasses, oval-shaped and shaded in the lenses.

He is more easily recognized by the beak-shaped mask that he always wears, as well as a black flat-topped, wide-brimmed hat, and a heavy cloak adorned with black feathers and tiny bells that quietly chime while he walks. Those who are near death may hear his bells approaching, a foreboding sound, despite the gentle cadence.

Personality
Calm and quiet, yet deeply morbid. He is a man of very few words, living in his own mind, always mulling over the many intermingling theories he happens to be concocting at the time. He has a great respect for the concept of death, and a deep connection with it as well. He views life as an instrument, a tool to be poked and prodded at, all to discover the wonders that it holds within itself through any means necessary. As long as the living vessel is alright with it, of course. He is a doctor, after all. His intent is to halt untimely death and ease the plight of others. Although his methods can be lengthy, eccentric and painful, he can heal ailments and injuries that most would consider impossible to survive. He also respects death, however, and will not try to stop it if the time seems right. He will often save the living from the brink of death and then ask them to let him perform a few tests for the sake of science. People usually refuse, but when they don’t, he is quite pleased. He is also helpful at healing minor injuries, although his lack of empathy and his fascination with open wounds makes him rather stressful to have as a medic.

Despite being a doctor, he is not against taking life, should the situation call for it. He carries upon his back a massive crescent-shaped cleaver with a serrated blade covered in rust. He has used it countless times in the past. The victims of this cleaver are tallied upon the side of the blade in thin scratches, and on the other side, he tallies the number of lives he has saved. He tries to keep the numbers even, remaining a neutral vessel in the world, existing merely to discover what potential lies beyond the curtains of life and death.

Being a human, he does not possess the special abilities or extraterrestrial knowledge that many other races do. He has attempted to tap into any magical potential which he might possess, but has discovered, much to his despair, that none exists within him. He has always felt trapped this way, eternally aware of his limitations. This only serves to fuel his desire to become as inhuman as possible by creating inventions of unnatural and seemingly impossible quality. His connection to death is not literal, more religious. He worships the concept of death itself, beyond any deity or God, and all its twisted potential. He chases after death as though he were in love with it, unable to let it go, unable to look away from the twisted scenes he comes across in his pursuit. Wherever a famine, a plague, or a battle occurs, he follows in the wake.

History
Early Life:
Ergo was a bright, intelligent boy, born into a very wealthy upper-class family. He excelled in his studies as a youth, but always harbored a strange affection for dead animals, funerals, and the pain of others. His parents brushed this off as an adolescent quirk and paid it no mind. He read extensively, hardly ever leaving the vast library in his father’s study.

College Life:
When he was a young man, he was accepted into the University of Xyrneiros, and attended the College of Restoration, Medicine and Botany. He was a handsome man and caught the eye of a young woman attending the same classes as him. The two of them quickly bonded over their shared fascination with death. The families of Ergo and the woman were of similar class, and the marriage between the two was arranged the same year.

The more time Ergo spent learning, the more aware he became of his lack of knowledge. His fascinations grew into obsessions, and even the woman who had once listened to his confessions with a smile grew concerned. They began to argue often, as Ergo fell deeper in love with the macabre, and began to lose his connection with the humanity inside of him. He became a recluse in his study, skipping class to pursue experiments he had come up with on his own. These were morbid, gruesome projects that slowly ate away at his body and soul, as he sampled parts of his own body to study, including his left eye. His wife, horrified by the monster her husband was becoming, went to a professor at the college and asked him for help. The professor and his associates looked into the experiments occurring in Ergo’s study, and quickly expelled him from the University, urging him to step away from academia altogether for the sake of himself and those around him.

The Quarter Life Crisis:
Ergo was treated as a pariah from his family, having disgraced them, and he found himself alone with his madness. Ashamed with all sides of himself, both the human and the madman, he hid his face behind a long-beaked mask and donned a black cloak. Dressed as an image of death, he set off to travel the world, trying to piece together a sense of identity, reflecting on his morality while still his mind produced more and more questions like a machine without an off button. On his travels, he encountered much suffering in every corner of Quelmar. Wherever he did, he would try to ease it, heal the wounded, cure the ill, but he couldn’t stop his curiosity from boiling over. He began actively seeking out places where horror had struck. He would scavenge items, medicines, and biological samples from the dead for his studies, while healing the survivors. The cleaver he currently carries was obtained off the body of a burly thug during one of these scavenges, because Faust needed something to hack off limbs with. He enjoyed the weapon and kept it with him. While healing the aforementioned survivors, he would ask the living if they would lend their suffering to him as a means of study, with the promise that he would heal them completely in the end. On the rare occasion in which he was allowed, this morally dubious method of study resulted in a great many discoveries for Faust, and his skills as a doctor improved expansively, although his methods would have been considered improper practice by any scholar of medicine from an ethical standpoint. His love of death remained but evolved from crazed obsession into admiration. He learned to respect it, to follow it as a loyal subject, rather than one trying to harness and control it. During his travels, he would come into the face of danger quite often, and he never hesitated to defend himself, or those he thought undeserving of death, but he began to question whether it was truly something he should do, saving life and taking it away. As an admirer of death, how dare he interfere? So, he became fixated with keeping the scales balanced. If he saved a life, he would be allowed to take one away. If he took one away, he would have to save another. This way he could remain in death’s good graces, and he would be able to study it in subjective peace, without any unnatural variables.

The New and Improved Years:
After many years of travelling as a doctor of his own making, Faust had gathered a great many new theories he longed to test out. Without any sort of laboratory, he couldn’t experiment properly, so he ceased his travels and took up residence in an abandoned stone tower not far from the city of Ahol.

After much cleaning and refurbishing, Faust began to set up a lab, travelling on occasion to collect more items or to balance the scales of life and death from his previous expeditions. He was satisfied living near Ahol, as there was always suffering and death quite nearby. Plenty of cadavers. Plenty of illegal substances to buy and sell to make ends meet. This was satisfying for a while, as Faust lost himself once again in his research, but soon he began to grow bored. He itched to be out in the world again, a feeling he hadn’t quite expected.

His plans to leave were shortly delayed, when he picked up a live specimen off the streets of Ahol, a half-elf named Fären. He had originally assumed the body to be dead, as battered and blood-soaked as it was, but upon further inspection he discovered a heartbeat. Faust brought Fären back to the lab and patched him up, more or less. Once Fären was able to speak, Faust asked him if he would like to partake in some clinical trials, a question that was usually refused by those in their right minds. The half-elf agreed, however, on the condition that Faust continue supplying him with any drug he desired. He seemed rather to enjoy the feeling of pain, so the two of them got along swimmingly.

The clinical trials were all non-lethal, mostly just physically and psychologically taxing for the patient.

After a few years, Fären no longer returned to the tower, and with nothing more to study, Faust became restless once more.

The Fantasial Freeze:
Just when Faust was about to move out of his tower, the frigid weather of the Arctic Autumn began. Such spectacular weather phenomena fascinated Faust. He set off on his travels once more, leaving his laboratory behind. Perhaps he would return someday, perhaps he wouldn’t.

Notable Inventions:
*This list is highly incomplete*

Drugs:

# Nazareth: Clear, slightly viscous liquid to be dropped in the eyes. Hallucinogen. Highly addictive.
# Ligeia: Grayish-green, metallic liquid. When poured on an open wound, it mingles with the bloodstream and makes the body feel as though it is melting, melting, melting. Perfect for enduring a particularly painful wound.
# Shaman’s Root: Grows in cold, damp, dimly lit conditions. It is the most potent when brewed as a tea, but it can be eaten raw as well. Provokes thought and connects the user more deeply with nature and their emotions.
# Lupin: Opioid. Small, black capsules made to be ingested orally. Highly addictive.

# Liquid Steel: A metal in liquid form that hardens under extreme cold. Cannot be turned back to liquid after it has hardened. Can be used to mend broken bones and fortify them against future injury. The hardening process is terribly painful for the patient.

Powers and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of medicine and anatomy, how to cause pain, how to take it away. Can invent any drug or medicine possible within the laws of science and outside the laws of society.

Attacks and Weapons
Faust carries a large, serrated cleaver which he uses to chop his foes into pieces.

Notes on Ergo/Faust's character design:
The inspiration for Ergo stems from multiple sources, as detailed below.

* Ergo’s Name: The name Ergo means ‘therefore’ in latin. It is intended as a very loose reference to the phrase “Cogito, Ergo, Sum”, translated as “I think, therefore, I am”, originally written by philosopher René Descartes. This phrase rose to popularity in modern times due to the 1967 short story ‘I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream’ written by Harlan Ellison, where this phrase is uttered by the main antagonist, a supercomputer named AM. Ergo feels trapped in his body and mind, limited by his human nature, haunted by the vast theories that spiral within, those which he will never have the means to unravel. His last name, Génessier, is taken from the 1960 film ‘Eyes Without a Face’.

* Inspiration for Ergo’s Weapon and Garb: Both his mask and feather-adorned cloak are heavily inspired by the character Eileen the Crow from the game ‘Bloodborne’, and his weapon is based on the ‘saw cleaver’ and ‘saw spear’ weapons from the same game.
About:

A small group of thugs based in Ahol, led by Ünalan Aldara, after he murdered the former leader, Morgan. The men of this gang preferred to travel to neighboring towns and cities to prey on the innocent, rather than the other gangs in the area. During one of these journeys, they were met with the drastic weather conditions from the Arctic Autumn, and were separated. The surviving few members of this gang remained scattered across Osugbo, hiding out and waiting for the land to thaw, jumping upon unsuspecting travellers whenever the opportunity struck.

Ünalan has cold, heavy-lidded black eyes, like those of a dead fish. His hair is dark and long. He is pale, tall, and burly. He has a tattoo of a serpent on his back, as well as three thick vertical lines tattooed going up both of his forearms. He has thin eyebrows and a long nose that is slightly bent to the left. There is a scar on his upper lip.

Personality
Ünalan is cruel and incapable of love. He is a cold, unfeeling man, only concerned with gaining and exploiting power. He actively enjoys seeing others suffer. He has betrayed everyone he has known, yet he still manages to gain the trust of others time and time again. He is very skilled at manipulating others with his sinister grin and synthetic charisma. He has a habit of surviving situations he shouldn't.

History
Ünalan was born and raised as a member of Gigas, a gang in the city of Ahol. Very early on, in his teenage years, he became the trusted confidant and right-hand man of Morgan Lăzărescu, the leader of Gigas. This man treated Ünalan as though he were his own son. When Ünalan was 26 years old, he murdered Morgan and took his place at the top. He proceeded to murder his own brother as a means of pledging his loyalty to The Grimm, another gang rising in power at the time. Since the beginning of The Fantasial Freeze, he has gone into hiding somewhere in Osugbo, having been separated from his men during a particularly terrible snowstorm.
About:
The Grimm were a gang of devoted criminals residing in Ahol during the years 415-464 PR. It was formed of mostly human men, who referred to themselves as a “brotherhood”, rather than a gang. Organized and dedicated to their craft, they were violent killers, hellbent on rising to power over the citizens of Ahol through bloodshed and fear. Their victims could be recognized through the method of death, as well as the marks left upon the bodies afterwards. The throats would be slit horizontally in three lines one above the other, then vertically down the middle. They would then face the body upright and remove their eyes and clothes, marking the forehead with the victim’s blood in the shape of an upside-down cross.

History:
The Grimm was formed in 415 PR by two brothers, Raache and Thorne. They swore to rid the streets of the vermin that polluted it, and that only those “blessed by the brotherhood” would remain in power. They quickly gathered a cult-like following due to their violent and passionate methods. They would allow only men into their brotherhood and required those joining to take a blood oath to show their loyalty. This blood oath involved drawing blood from one’s own body and sharing it with the brothers.

Over the next few years, The Grimm had gathered a significant number of members and had earned both a reputation and an influence amongst the other gangs of Ahol. The method of the blood oath was then changed. Anyone who wanted to earn the blessing and protection of the brothers could take a blood oath by spilling the blood of one their own brother (this didn’t have to be a blood relation, merely one you considered as close as a brother) and delivering their body to Raache and Thorne. This was seen as a means of discarding your old ties and forming a new, lone tie with The Grimm. Those who took this new blood oath still would not be considered a brother of The Grimm but would instead be referred to as ‘friends’ of the brotherhood.

The Grimm took a major hit in 462 PR, when low-ranking member Fären Aldara went rogue and murdered twelve of the members of the brotherhood, including Thorne. For the next two years, the remaining members were assassinated by Fären, one after another, despite their efforts to apprehend him. The group officially went extinct in 464 PR, when Fären assassinated Raache.

Lycidas looks quite different from his brother Fären, despite them being twins. He resembles his father much more than he does his mother. He has curly black hair that falls to his waist and dark brown, sunken eyes. He is the same height as Fären, standing at five feet and eight inches, but he is extremely thin, and appears quite sickly and gaunt. He has pointed ears and long fingernails. He has the same beauty mark as his brother, underneath his eye, but it is on the left instead of the right.

Personality
Lycidas is analytical and quiet. He is highly intelligent but struggles to empathize with those who do not share his views. He is diplomatic and good at convincing others to follow his suggestions. He has a gloomy disposition, often sighing and frowning, lost in thought. Not very fun at parties.

History
Life: Refer to Fären’s history ‘Early Years' and ‘Pre-Incident’.

Powers and Abilities
Lycidas has no combat skills to speak of. He is better at plans and analyzing situations, versus actively participating in them.Worldbuilders

Shortly after, The Fantasial Freeze began. Fären decided that with the land in chaos, he might as well enjoy his newfound freedom and have a little fun. He still carried the knife that killed his brother with him, just in case he did ever find his father, and refused to use it against anyone else. But until then there were certainly plenty of other thugs in the world worth stabbing (with a different knife) a couple times for good measure.

Powers and Abilities
_

Attacks and Weapons
Fären enjoys collecting knives, specifically stiletto blades, but any sharp object will do the trick.
