Every year, millions of gallons of sea water flow through Galik's massive harbor, but a small percentage of that water flows through channels (thought to be either naturally occurring or bore by subterranean beasts) underwater on the side of the city's coast. These channels typically only carry water through the ground aquifier further inland, where it settles in a subterranean lake.

However, due to Galik's long history of shipwrecks in the harbor, occasionally the currents are just right to carry rubbish (or even entire sunken ships) through the underground rivers, where they collect and settle directly underneath of a [[Free Defenders (Galik)|Free Defender]] barrack on the south side of the city.
