			The party traveled to Wyvern's Roost crater to investigate an old dwarven mining camp, outside which they encountered a large, regenerating plant creature that Lysvan remembered was called an [[archbloom]] and couldn't be killed unless a particular flower to which it was bound, known as a ''throne blossom'' had first been destroyed, because a magical link between the two allowed the creature to regenerate its body even in the face of damage that would ordinarily be expected to destroy it entirely. They were able to incapacitate it for a few minutes, giving them enough time to enter the mine complex and look for the throne blossom.

			While the creature was recuperating, but before the group left it alone, they discovered that inside its body were two corpses infested with the type of same strange, metal wires the company had seen in other yuan-ti bodies. One of the two unfortunate souls had apparently been carrying a sending stone before it became engulfed by the plant creature, and Dr. Weedus held onto this for safe keeping. Some party members wanted to use it to try to contact the dead yuan-ti's allies, who they hoped were yuan-ti from the clan with which the company had also recently become loosely allied, but it was decided that this task could wait and that proceding into the mine complex immediately should take priority because of the time crunch created by the rapidly regenerating plant creature.

			The first thing the group noticed upon entering the mine was the bones of a large, reptilian beast with evidence of slashing wounds, although they couldn't specifically identify what type of creature had caused them. As a precaution, Lysvan summoned eight giant spiders to help scout and presumably fight whatever hostile creatures the party would find while exploring the complex. And the group spread out to search the area, none traveling more than a few dozen feet from any other party member so that any calls for help could be answered with rapidity.

			L'Kon entered a small chamber that had apparently been used as an office, in which a male dwarf, long-dead from a neck wound, sat at a desk as if asleep, although the corpse was clearly not fresh. With a crackle of electricity, it rose and began to attack, but it was easily dispatched by the spiders, seeming to begin some sort of transformation but the falling motionless without any significant change.

			Within a few seconds, party members had found several more corpses lying around in various areas, and these similarly animated when anyone approached them. They were also easy to defeat, except that about half of them then underwent a metamorphosis into wraiths -- much more dangerous adversaries -- one of which drained vitality from Juno with a ghostly touch.

			By the time they had put down these unusual undead for good, some of the group could make out the sound of something approaching from the mine's entrance and, presuming it was the now-regenerated archbloom, made haste to move on in search of its phylactery-like throne blossom, proceeding down into the lower level of the complex through the use of a mechanical elevator platform.

			Exploring one of the short tunnels at the bottom, Juno found a corpse holding a leather bag, but wary of it animating upon her approach, she asked Lysvan to have her spiders retrieve it. This proved fruitful, as the bag contained a large enough quantity of gold coins that the spiders had some difficulty dragging in back to where the party waited, and it also contained a magic scroll and a diamond that would be suitable as a component for casting the Revivify spell.

			L'Kon scouted ahead, finding an area full of flowers growing despite the absence of sunlight, where stood a bulbous, metal, aberrant construct with arms made of many wires. Lysvan told the group this creature would be able to infect people with something bad if it attacked them, possibly triggering a transformation like those that had created the wire-filled yuan-ti they had seen outside.

			Corpses began animating as had those on the upper level (from where the party members still close to the elevator could hear the archbloom near the top of the shaft.) L'Kon saw that the metal construct was able to extend one of its wires a great distance to transform one of the zombies into a wraith. Lysvan burned away most of the flowers with magical fire, revealing the hardy throne blossom they needed to destroy the plant creature that had now made its way down the elevator shaft. Weedus blew a Horn of Valhalla, summoning thirteen powerful warriors who slashed at various foes and provided fodder for some of the life-draining attacks coming from four wraiths.

			The construct blasted shrapnel across the chamber, and the archbloom attempted to charm ten of the combatants with a powerful magical attack, thankfully affecting only a few spiders and one of Weedus' warriors. Lysvan plucked the throne blossom flower, which weakened the plant creature substantially, and Weedus hit it with a blast of fire. Lysvan then dismissed the spiders since some of them were now serving the plant creature, and she teleported the now-unconscious Juno to relative safety where Rosin could heal her. A wraith turned one of the
			summoned warriors into a spectre, and the other nearby warriors fell upon these undead, destroying both of them.

			The party and the summoned warriors continued beating on the enemies, and Juno sliced one of the construct's legs off, and it finally toppled, uttering "Freedom from Aloisyus." Weedus and the warriors took out two of the three remaining wraiths, and Juno destroyed the last one. The archbloom made a retaliatory strike against Rosin, knocking her unconscious, but Lysvan teleported her away and blasted it with fire, Weedus bashed it, and L'Kon put it down for good, whereupon the group harvested pieces of it for research or use in magical crafting.

			The party found a magical dagger made of the same strange metal as the wires were, and they discovered notes left by the miners indicating both that this metal they had been mining was a star metal stronger than adamantine and that the metal construct had arrived at some point when it apparently ran into the mine for safety.

			When the group used the sending stone to contact the yuan-ti to ask how to handle their fallen comrades, they turned out to be unaffiliated with the yuan-ti previously encountered by the company, other than one recently found in an ankheg hive. The response from the stone was a harsh, disturbing voice that said only, "We will retrieve them, and they will be rebirthed by the Writhing Dark. Now run." With the mine cleared out, the party hurried out of the crater with useful new information as well as some nagging new questions.
